BCS Youth Soccer Program

BCS Youth Soccer Program is a non-profit voluntary based organization that develops and delivers quality youth soccer for BCS students in a fun, family-like environment. Our manager, secretaries, and coaching staff are all parent volunteers who help make this program happen. Any fees collected will only be spent on team functions with no personnel expanse of any kind.

BCS Youth Soccer is based on a sign-up, not a try-out recruiting system. As long as there is space on the team, every child who signs up can join the team. We try to create a recreational environment in which every one plays, especially the younger age groups. All of our coaches believe in building soccer skills and self-worth through encouragement and teaching, and promote positive behavior both on the field and on the sidelines. Moreover, we promote a “Trying your best!” attitude to encourage better self-esteem for each and every player.

Our practice schedule is from 2:00pm to 4:00pm every Saturday afternoon during the regular school year(weather permitting). Summer practices are not part of our regular program, so we may have a different schedule. Please be on-time in bringing your child to practice and in picking him/her up when practice is over. Our program consists of many different age groups and does not have a sign up/release form for any and all players. We will not call the player's parent(s) if he/she does not show up for practice. Parents are welcome to stay and watch his/her child (children) play, but please follow the “Parents Code”.

Depending on the number of players, parents need to sign up one or two time slots as “team parent,” who will help to set-up/clean-up the field and serve as an assistant when requested by our coaching staff.

Safety is our utmost concern, please make sure your child dresses properly and brings the needed equipment. Equipment and clothing include shin guards, shoes, shorts, shirt, socks, and plenty of drinking water. Please make sure socks are worn outside of the shin guards for maximum safety. Also if your child need glasses, it is required for him/her to wear protective sports eye wear(sports goggle) to avoid any possible eye injury (according to the National Society to Prevent Blindness, of the 100,000 eye injuries sustained each year, the largest numbers are attributed to school age athletes.) If your child has special medical conditions, please consult your doctor before joining the practice. If necessary, please stay with your child for all sessions."

You can buy the sport goggle from local stores or from mail/internet order. Sports goggles available in different sizes and with clear or tinted and/or with prescription lenses. When picking the size of the sports goggle, most sizes are stated in millimeters in the format of (xx/yy). The first number (xx) is the distance across one lens in millimeters. The second number (yy) is the distance between the two lenses stated in millimeters. When using mail/internet order, an easier way of measuring is to find a glasses frame that fit you then check the size of that glasses (usually written across the bridge or on the temple of the frame). For prescription lenses, merchants need the prescription as actually written by your doctor. For mail/internet order, merchants also need PD (pupil distance) measurements to ensure prescription is made accurately. You can obtain your pupil distance from whomever fit your last pair of glasses. This is usually not written on your prescription, but is a measurement taken by the optician filling the prescription. Usually, prescription lenses would fit best if you go to local store in person on local store yet it may also cost more. One of the alternative is to mail order the goggle without lenses and fill the prescription lenses in the local store. There are many ways to find the right goggle for themself and everyone is different, people have to find the way that suit them the best. For internet oder, a pair of regular sports goggle with clear polycarbonate lenses is about $65 - $85, if with prescription lenses then price goes up to $130 - $150 a pair. No, it is not cheap but again it protect your priceless child from possible serious eye injury.
