Berryessa Youth Center Groundbreaking Ceremony April 30, 2004

Simon Chu, 2003-2004 Principal, Berryessa Chinese School

April 30, 2004 marked another milestone in BCS history. The site for the BCS home office broke ground today! The seed that all the Principal Emeritas of BCS planted through their persistent hard work had finally paid off! By June 2005, the Berryessa Youth Center will be finished and BCS will have a home office finally. Though details of the collaboration will still need to be worked out, the nomadic journey of BCS will hopefully cease to exist and BCS will flourish with its first permanent home office.

San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales, San Jose City Councilman Chuck Reed, Ron Fairchild (project lead, Berryessa Yoth Center), BUSD Board of Trustees President Francine Davis, Vice President Kansen Chu, members, our own Dr. Ray Kwok, Rudy Nasol, Interrim Superintendent Jack Owens, Assistant Superintendent Chris Jew, and others, including our own Dr. Pat Wong, Oliver Wan, myself, current BCS VPs LiangPing Shen, Ben Li, BCS teachers Martha Kang, Olivia Lung were there to witness this page of history!

In his speech, Mayor Ron Gonzales mentioned Berryessa Chinese School will be operating afternoon programs and Saturday school activities! Aren't we special?

No words can descibe the joy, envy, and respect to all those dedicated souls of BCS who had worked so hard to achieve this. My salute to you!

Here are couple pictures I took today at the occasion!
